CBT Therapy North West

Relationship Therapy

Relationship therapy can make a big difference at times when relationships are suffering. The combination of traditional relationship therapy techniques with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the sessions we offer, enables us to help couples to work together to bring about positive change.

Initially relationship therapy is spent exploring the client's relationships and identifying areas needing attention to establish the goals of the therapy.

Using the simple and effective principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the next stage to help clients to develop ways to understand each other and the effect that internal and external influences have upon their relationship.

By couples working together to bring about change, the aim of the final stage of relationship therapy is to recognise and acknowledge each others needs and to put in place strategies for coping with any future problems that may arise.

Although relationship therapy sessions usually take place on a weekly basis with both partners present, we can also meet with one partner who may approach us for relationship therapy. The average number of relationship therapy sessions attended by couples is 6-8 with the offer of further sessions at a future date to "top up" skills, if required.
